From the inside of the inlet you can see the 136-foot-tall black and white lighthouse on the north shore of the inlet that was placed into service here in 1907, Originally the octagonal iron pyramidal tower was built by a Chicago steel firm for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair it was moved to Hillsboro Inlet 1907.
Live bait at this location:
Mullet are found in the inlet and in the Cove.
Pilchard and white bait again I find all over but under the bridge is good and off the Rocks.
Fishing areas:
There are three or so areas to fish.
The easiest area to fish is at the docks and under the bridge, make sure you move around like under the bridge all sides and try a trollrite with a live shrimp, work the current and if its night the shadow line. I have been fishing this inlet since I was about 12 and it has always given me fish though sometimes I have to work really hard but they are here. You will be able to get Snook, Tarpon, Jacks, Mangroves and bait.
The ROCKS southside:
which is the jetty on the south side beach you have to park at 16th and walk down the beach to get to this location it is a hefty walk so pack light but the payoff can be good with Grouper, Snapper, Snook and. You always have a shot at migratory and semi migratory Fish that is Pompano, Mackerel and Bluefish, I am not saying you can't get these fish all year long, just this far south its better in Fall, Winter and Spring, I just don't find them in abundance in the summer time.
