--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heres one for ya.....YEARS AGO....like about 8 yrs, I was getting ready for a keys trip and heard that there were schools of big ladyfish everywhere around newport pier.....so I decided to go there to load up on some shark bait. I took a spinning rod for lures and a 30 lb bottom rod, after about 15 minutes of tossing lures they show up THICK.....I caught about 6 of them on lures before a big cuda started to take advantage of the hooked ones....soooo, I decided to put a stop to him and get one big shark bait for the trip! I rig up my 30 lb (which was a newell at the time) with about 4 feet of wire and added a stinger hook cause the ladyfish were about 3 ft long. I try to get another ladyfish on my spinning rod but the cudas got to him before I could get him on the pier....so I say the hell with it and take the mangled half of ladyfish and slap him on my newell, toss him out and INSTANTLY hook up! THe first run was sweet for it peeled out about 100 yrds of line out in seconds, as I start working him back in he bolts toward the pier and I have to reel like a mad man to try to keep the slack out....thats when it gets crazy, I catch up with him, the line gets tight and he makes ANOTHER run that almost spools me....thats over 350 yrds of 30 almost gone!!! Now I am wondering how big this cuda is cause when I set the hook on him I saw him jump and he looked about 4-5 ft long.....now I am about 45 min. into the fight and wondering what the hell is going on.....then I see it, first the fin then the whole thing.....a bullshark about 5 feet long!!! It was early in the morning & no bathers or lifeguards around yet so I beached it.....the only thing that kept it on my line was the stinger hook, and half the cuda was hanging on the other hook!!! It seems what had happen is when the cuda made a run for the pier it was getting chased by the shark and when I FINALLY came tight on it again I must of set the hook in the shark after he got ahold of the cuda!!! The whole fight lasted about a hour....all on 30 lb test.....going up the food chain on one rod!!!!!

Ok im sorry but your telling me you caught a bull shark which wasnt small if it was going after a cuda big enough to eat lady fish all on 30lb test line now that sounds a little weird but thats ok this is why its called fishing tall tales and this one sounds very TALL!

i once was fishing in the keys on a pier behind a hotel with a whole bonita on a 16/0 at about 3 in the am the rod goes off and we end up catching a 9 and a half foot hammerhead and ther was a cuda head hanging on the secondary with the hook in its mouth and we figured the cuda ate the bonita and the hammer ate the cuda
