7/13 Night on the lake

Post by fishinDave07 »

got to the lake around sunset and as soon as i cast out i see 3 tarpon about 25-30 lbs each rolling in a "cast-able" distance.

I immediately put on a zara spook and cast that a country mile. i "walk the dog" with it a few times but nothing...i then tell my little brother to catch 'poon bait a.k.a. blue gills.

On his first cast he catches a perfect sized gill.

Knowing that theres Tarpon in the canal/lake system i always carry a massive bobber with a 6/0 Gamagatsu circle hook tied to a 30lb mono leader.

I cast out the blue gill and notice that he is swimming crazy, probably trying to escape the cavernous jaws of doom  i also hear the little JAws tune in my head ...but then he stops and just chills out. after a while i open the spool and set down my rod to use my bro's to catch some blue gills and such for mental support purposes  .

I actually end up catching a 16 inch catfish, after releasing it i cast out again and this time i catch a smaller cat maybe 12-14 inches. Yes folks thats a double cat in about 10 minutes....(Those are for you KY)After waitning 30 minutes i decide to head home because the humidity is sucking the life outta me. :?

hahaha catfish, I'lll tell ya if you want humidity you should spend your summers where I'm at. For example this past week it has been low 90's everyday with humidity over 90%.

It gets a lot worse than that but it seems it is always very humid here.

Middle Tennessee was the same way. At least down here we get a decent breeze most all the time.
