Need shimano reel parts
So I'm praying to god somebody on this forum has both of the parts I need, Saturday I went fishing on the boat and my aunt made the mistake and broke my stradic 5000fh off the rod, so I need the side cover from the reel that going onto the fishing rod, I also need a main drive gear for a 3500 bait runner ( old one ), the bait runner isn't he one that the handle screws into the gear it's the one with the small box that slides thru, so please if any of you guys/girls have any old reels laying around and have any of these 2 parts please pm me so we can talk.

I checked shimano's website. Those reels are too old, your best bet is eBay.. Good Luck.

Not just eBay, do a google search there should be a few other people that stock shimano parts, just like Scott's B/T is the go to for penn parts.

Re: Need shimano reel parts
These are the 2 reels that I need parts for, the stradic is an FH the only thing is I made it fit a 5000 Stella handle, but if you guys know a website that they sell parts for them other then eBay I'd be happy, I've checked eBay everyday since it broke and nothing, I've emailed the sellers to see if they have the parts I need also and nothing.

Re: Need shimano reel parts
2 option or what I will do. Buy the whole reel or sell that 3500 and get the 4500. If you are having problems now getting parts what is going to happen in a few years. Having the whole reel you can use the one you bought and have your old one for parts.
Head over to Alan site. Few guys in there are shop owners or have better connection to other places

Re: Need shimano reel parts
I like to repair my reels as much as possible, but on the stradic, depending on the condition of the reel, it might be time to cut your losses. You might be throwing good money into bad, or something like that.

Sweet thanks guys, I'll call those places tomorrow and see if they have anything, I really care a lot more about getting the side cover to my 5000fh stradic, it's my favorite reel

Re: Need shimano reel parts
When I looked into 3500B schematic, I don't see part name called main drive gear.
What do you mean by you need main drive gear? Did you open the reel and checked inside?
Maybe, something loosened inside.
I had a problem with my 4500B and I opened it up and found there was a broken E clip.
And I just fixed it with titanium king fish wire.
See my thread

The reel still working ok...lol

Re: Need shimano reel parts
The main gear on the inside that the handle goes on to has 1 tooth missing and the others are pretty worn down, I've checked eBay and I did find the 3500b gear for cheap but the difference between both is on the 3500B the handle screws in and on the other one it slides in with a screw on the other side

Just go pick up a new one maybe even a CI for and send your aunt the bill. Most people don't have an appreciation for the amount of money we spend on fishing gear

Re: Need shimano reel parts
It sounds like you need drive gear with square hole without thread.
Maybe, this is schematic of your reel? http://www.nutterrodandreel.com/pdf/Shi ... r3500a.PDF

That particular model (3500A) seemed like have been quickly replaced by 3500B. It seems there is not much parts available. It may not be so worthy to fix it.
You may want to tear down the reel and sell individual part on ebay (with $10 shipping charge), which may give you enough money to buy "Stella"... lol

Re: Need shimano reel parts
Exactly what I've told everybody, nobody really knows or cares how much you have spent on fishing gear they just see it as stuff to fish with, but then you tell them that you spent 250$ on a fishing reel and they call you crazyGreen Tide wrote:Just go pick up a new one maybe even a CI for and send your aunt the bill.
