1:30pm saw a couple hundred fingers at the NE corner of the Spanish River bridge over the intracoastal. Nothin' on them.
Also, a small 10' school of fingers out in the middle of the intracoastal... just a seagull hitting them occasionally. It was early outgoing.

Re: East Coast Mullet run 2014 Reports ONLY
WOOHOO! Got my 1st keeper snook of the season!... 30" at Spanish River this morning just before sunrise.... saw a little 3' ball of bait on the surface, just 5' off the sand... 2nd little 10' cast of my spoon got the hit... she jumped and looked like a keeper... glad she didn't get off in the foam! :-)
DIdn't see any mullet.
Lots of seaweed.
Saw several pods of finger mullet loitering around Spanish River bridge... nothin' hitting them when I was there around 8:30am.

Re: East Coast Mullet run 2014 Reports ONLY
Fished dania surf this morning. Large pod of mullets stopped nort of the pier for period of 2 hrs. The only noticble predator was tarpoon, saw few of them. Group of about 5 fisherman worked the pod with spoons, artificials and live mullets but nothing wanted to eat. My final outcome was 1 30' snook that went in the cooler and 3 poons that were hooked for 20 seconds.
For the first hour of the morning i was little dissapointed with lack of bait but then when pod arrived things got much better.

Re: East Coast Mullet run 2014 Reports ONLY
I was there at Dania pier and lucked into the mullet pod Peter mentions. I was targeting the mullet themselves and got a dozen with a sabiki before they moved off too far south. Good size, between 10 and 13". Pod was about 20 or 30 yds across. Mullet are tasty! Will fillet and smoke some and can the rest for later.

Re: East Coast Mullet run 2014 Reports ONLY
When they school tight, yes, they will take sabiki. They suck up anything small and immediately spit it if not edible. You have to keep jerking the sabiki so that you hook them. 10 of them I got in the mouth and two I got snagged in the belly or a fin. You can snag them with a weighted treble too. You can chum them with oatmeal, bread bits, etc so they stick around and fish them with tiny hooks with a bread bit balled on the hook. Or corn, peas, almost anything. If its small, they will mouth it and you have to set the hook fast before they spit it out. works best this way in canals and ICW, never tried chumming them in the sea. But they were definitely picking at my sabiki. I was getting one every minute or two

Looks like the same pod that was at Dania pier for sure! I caught a bunch of those and brought them home. On sabiki of all things. They were fairly large, about a foot long. Check out my blog for the results: http://helpmefish.wordpress.com/2014/09 ... -a-mullet/

Re: East Coast Mullet run 2014 Reports ONLY
That looks nice at Sebastian.
I was on Jensen Beach yesterday one BIG pod went by at 6:30am with some fish on them the mullet were on the smaller size. I followed and lost them at Bath tub beach I am not sure if they went in st lucie inlet or were on the north end of hobe sound, I hung out a while and waited at wildlife refuge but did not see them so I went south of hobe sound and fished the rest of the day, I caught Bluefish and crap loads of Lady fish and a few jacks, there were Pompano fisherman there that got a few keepers each.
I was only using hard baits and spoons

Re: East Coast Mullet run 2014 Reports ONLY
Also today is the first day I can say right now this very moment there is Balls of mullet and Bait pods moving at every inlet all the way up to Sebastian.
What was weird yesterday was between every inlet I was at which was every inlet all the way to Fort Pierce the coastal current changed one stretch to another it was south and the next north and so on and I don't know what was the difference swell was pretty much the same.
I see lots of Bait and Mullet getting very close

I am going to share a link I know some of you guys must have this or at least know of some of these cams, this puts them all together. The more that watch over the next few weeks the more we know, If you see pods heading into these areas from the cams post it. Most have north views and inlet views.
I have others but they are paid subscription, Surfline is good it is streaming also
You can just click the image and it will take you to its web site and images most are time stamped.
