i want to know your picks for rods and reels when pier fishing... i used only spinning tackle in the past but recently bought my first shimano reel and still have a hard time picking conventional reels , baitcasters that are suitable usually for pier fishing...also let me know what u guys think about spinning reels with bait feeders

Spinners work Great and if you are more comfortable with a spinner go with it. Like Sharkman said Shemano Bait runners and also Large Penn Spinners 750

I perfer Conventionals, non level winds, My first was a Jigmaster which I still have and it must be 25 or so years old.

There are much better reels made today as for Drag and smoothness in casting.
My favorite that I have for casting is a 990-980 Penn Mag it still cast like a champ and the magnets help to prevent backlash.

I'm a light tackle guy and shimano by far is my favorite. I see new reels in the shop but, I for some reason keep getting the Stradics. Have tried several shimano rods. Just bought a scimitar but, I don't like it as much as my compre. Call me crazy but I like it when my rod bends.

Senators are great, just takes some practice to get them to cast well. Look at Avets if you want a serious conventional though.

An Ugly stick with a shamino 2500 baitrunner reel by far the best! :D
