Happy New Year guys!

Santa was good enough to bring me my first REAL reel, a Shimano Baitrunner 8000D! I'll be spending 90+% on bridges and piers, so let me know what I should best attack with this new toy. I have a 9' Penn prevail rod laying around. Could I pair these up?

Go get an 8ft stellar lite star rod or 8ft star handcrafted off the used rod rack at T&R tackle for arond 80- 100 dollars, and youll be set forever
