Friday 10/19
Me and my brother made it down to Galveston around 8 or so at night and the water, in the words of my brother, was like a lake. It was perfect and we picked up a couple of fresh rays from the bait shop so those were ran out. The ray on my 12/0 was only ran out about 200 yards but the ray on my bros 80w was taken out about 500 yards. No more then maybe an hour or honestly maybe even less after getting baits ran out, the 80w had a slow roll.
My brother got up, started reeling in, and felt no resistance. However, he eventually got in about 300 or so yards of line before he felt some bumping, fish on! I snapped a few pics, hopped into the water, and dragged up a 5'1" Blacktip.

All hooks removed and she swam off strong. It felt nice to put my hands on a shark again, I was having withdrawals
The rest of the night was pretty much inactive, although there were some whiting and black drum in the surf.
Saturday 10/20
I feel like we spent 2-3 hours messing with stuff and running baits, but anyways, the guys fishing next to us were catching fish in the surf back to back with live mullet. Blue fish, skipjack, slot reds, a big speck and a nice spanish mackeral. They gave us all of their skipjack and blue runners as they caught them, and my brother ran half a skipjack out on his 6/0 which later got picked up by a 2'9" blacktip. The water was still pretty calm for the most part, and when we got a fresh blue runner my brother ran that out on his 6/0, and he had a huge jack head he ran out on his 80w. I wish I would have gotten a picture of it, but it was a huge, huge head section of a Jack, and he took it out 800+ yards.

Still got the PVC setup but hey it works

Besides that, we ended up missing 3 fish as well, and we would have caught at least a couple more sharks if the current had not gotten so bad. The jack that was out 800+ yards got washed up to the beach and in the middle of the night and that was it, yaking out was impossible. Which sucked, because we did have a big fresh skipjack and bluefish. Throughout saturday my brother had a cownose he had out that got hit by a possible 3 footer, it missed the hook. I had a whiting out that got hit, another possible 3 footer, and my brother had a small blacktip that had gotten stuck on one of his baits and when we brung it in it was bitten clear in half...probably something bigger than 3 foot hit that

So basically, if you're in the Galveston area, and you don't mind catching a bunch of 5 footers, then you should hit it up with some fresh caught bait. What was freshly caught got slammed in under an hour. Nothing too big was caught, but it is nice that our back to back trips have still produced sharks since May, so now it's 13 sharks on the beach this year, and we still have November trip for one more chance to go after a big one
Meanwhile in Corpus...
I don't know the story behind it, but around 12pm I believe (today), Albert made any fish we've caught this year seem irrelevant...again haha. Pending record for 100lb line, a 12'2" Tiger Shark. Jealous. But oh so beautiful. Like I said, I have no idea about the story behind it; the shark was caught today though so we'll probably find out pretty soon.
