im not sure about that but if you are fishing on a public beach that doesn't get alot of crowds you should be fine. as long a there are no signs you should be ok. if you get stopped for some reason then say you didn't know of such ban. just go out and fish for them but do it in more isolated areas.

You could just go fishing and say you are just fishing.. I mean sharks eat what other big fish eat too right? big baitfish... so if you catch a shark by accident, oh well, it happens, how can they prove you are shark fishing on purpose.. say you are fishing for giant parrotfish and be done with it! lol

Don't know about the legality but I fished a pier there about 15 years ago and had my ws 4/0 dumped. I was visiting from Deerfield and did not plan on shark fishing but after catching a nice mac had to. Anyway we spliced it to a second 4/0 but after about 3 hrs the line popped at the knot.
Just thought I would relay the story.

Sorry for the late post, but not true. You may be thinking of Volusia County.opiato wrote:i heard its illegal to fish for sharks from shore in st augustine, in fact that entire county. can anyone confirm this?
