New to West Palm Beach

Post by macarpenter »

I've recently moved back to Florida and look forward to great fishing. I dropped some lines down off the pier at Phil Foster Park hoping to bring up one of the massive drum i see rolling around but was not successful. I am thinking of trying some night fishing just south of that at an inlet. Does anyone have any suggestions for a great spot?

Welcome. Palm Beach Inlet is a good spot but you have to fish it at certain tides or the conditions are almost unfishable. Right now, I would fish the beaches around Macarthur Park, the mullet run is beginning and there are plenty of snook, tarpon, jacks, etc following them. Lake Worth Pier, Boynton Inlet and Juno Pier are some other spots to try if you don't want to fish the beaches.

I'll be going out tonight, is there little visibility out there at night. I will be able to catch 15 or so pen fish before heading out would you recommend that bait. Do you think the pen fish will work or do i need to get my hand on some mullet?

Pinfish should work, we had some good hits on them the other night at one of the inlets. Mullet are always good bait too.

Nice, sounds like a good sign. I'll have to take a look at the inlet and see how the conditions look. I'll update everyone on the fishing reports, see if i crank out a nice snook or two.
