TEAM WHOOPED SKIFF fishing 2/12

went out last night to do some down town miami fishing last night on ryans skiff. target fish were snook, grovers, and tarpon if they are worth it. when we were on our way chum on her face was already out there and calls us that they are getting worked by some fish. they were on the team whooped canoe so they were getting dragged all over the place. we end up being on the water 40 min later to find out that they are still fighting the fish and it had taken them a half mile away from where they started. well we go there and help them and maybe 10 min later fish is caught and released. it ended being a tarpon close to 40lbs. he caught it on 20lb leader which is why the fight lasted so long. well we go back to our first bridge to fish and i hook up within min. fish takes off. jumps. takes off and breaks through my 30lb leader. ok time to retie. keep drifting baits back and im on again shortly. bigger one. this time we are ready to chase the fish. before i could say fish on ryan had that boat in reverse. he did a great job manuevering the boat. ended being about a 20 min fight with some real nice jumps mixed in. fish was well over a hundred pounds. we guestimate it at around 120. we got the fish around the boat multiple times with the fish making runs each time. when getting the fish close one last time it took off...jumped and wrapped up in my main line in the process which led to me breaking off....it was a hell of a fight. chum on her face ended up getting 3 nice grovers. one about 14" and the other two being about 17"-18". well we leave our spot to get some snapper and get a few nice ones. total we got about a two person limit. on to our downtown bridge B. its elis turn to hook up and yeah he hooked up. took off. it ran and ran and ran...oh wait it turned....then ran and ran but around a column. got the boat up and chasing after him but had no chance. fish broke off...hell of a fish! we were all fishing with real light tackle so we knew we would lose some. all in all a good night. got our fights and food. im on 3 1/2 hrs of sleep so story might be bad...lol

not big on tarpon but 100+ lb tarpon are slightly more fun than working

good job hookin into them fish,too bad none were landed. watchin that 100+lb poon jump looked cool as hell. need to do it again. how about them snappers?
