1-10 Trigger on the troll
Long day today, my neighbor who's boat we were on got sick as a dog 10 minutes in, but still wanted to give it a shot so he fell asleep up front for the rest of the trip.We trolled from the 100-200 ft range for about 2 hours, saw a real nice school of bait showering, trolled around it, pitched livies, nothing. Getting ready to head in and land a nice size triggerfish that hit a trolled yo-zuri. No pics yet. Normally I wouldn't post an unexciting report but a triggerfish on the troll is new in my books.

I have also caught triggers trolling live ballyhoo and plugs behind my kayak. They can be really aggressive.

Just slow trolling, and not huge, but a good size. Still just more suprising really than anything.

Yes indeed they are a whitemeat and quite tasty.

One of my favorites to eat, but cleaning them is a PITA. Skin like shoeleather.

They are easy to clean Rory if you figure out the secret inside out.
They are my top 3 as far as eating goes.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

I still can't believe after all those years of loving about them stealing bait and come to find out they are yuuummy.

They are legal to keep at 14 this year, up from 12Rijkaard wrote:right under the pectoral fin there's a soft spot, put the knife through there and cut the fish down to the guts, then fillet it as a regular snapper, skin is so tough that's really easy to remove
