Offshore Report...well, sorta--Stuart

i hooked up with a fellow Michigan transplant Tom to go out for some dolphin and sails, and hopefully some swords at night. However, the seas were not willing to cooperate. After an hour of nothing going on in the spread and dealing with constant 7' rollers and rogue waves, we headed inshore to kill the spanish macks. Still had to fish with 7' rollers...it was some ride! Got about 25 in an hour between 4-7 lbs freelining shrimp behind the boat. Got a couple more on the fly when the school was thick. My dad also landed a bonus 8lb permit on shrimp too! Woohoo!

Kept the permit and 10 macks, and gave the rest away to others who didn't have that much luck. Too bad about the bad offshore weather though, I was looking forward to some swording. Next time we'll get 'em.

Frogfish, only Florida residents are allow to keep Permit. Non Florida residents must pay a Permit stamp in order to keep their catch. Heavy fines if caught. Just have your dad give me the Permit so he wont get into trouble.

Yeah, my sea legs are pretty darn good (comes from going out in 6' waves on lake Michigan with a 14' aluminum dinghy), but my dad...not so much.
