As usual, got there before sunrise and on my third cast, bam, a pompano. Pull it up and measure it... shy of 11" back he goes. Thinking to myself, it's going to be a great pompano day! about every 30 - 45mins, I would get a pompano, until I landed 3. Then while jigging bam! The line started peeling off my spool really fast. Thinking to myself, score! Must be a permit that's running like this. 50yds later, it stopped and I started pumping it back in. When it got next to the bridge, I saw a flash in the water. Damn! It's a stringray. >.<
It ran into the pilling and I pull it out and I landed it. Other than that, I caught a jack, sheephead.
The macks and mangrove snapper were all over the places chowing down on 1" greenies. The group next to me were slaying them!
Total for 8/23/2014
3 keeper pompano, 1 smaller one.
1 jack
1 stringray
1 Sheephead
Most of the bites are before 11am.

Got there before sunrise and I am really for the mackerel and snapper this time. I just bought a new castnet for bait!
About 45 mins to an hr, bam pompano hook up. Darn... it's a tad short. >.< See a bunch of mackerel and snapper eating the bait fish again. I then get a good amount of greenies for chum and bait. Then I keep on continue fishing for pompano until it's the tide that I wanted. Every now a then, I would throw a hand full into the water to see if the mackerel are around yet but they don't seems to be yet. I kept fishing and ended up landing 2 keeper pompano.
The other group that was slaying them yesterday came. I joined them and fished for snapper and mackerel. We slayed them today as well. I got my limit of snapper and got out of there... So hot!
The mackerel are here at skyways people! Get out there and catch them up!
