Need Help with Oscar, Jaguar Cichlid and Mida Cichlid

Post by fisherdave »

I have been after these fish for two years now and still haven't caught any of these fish yet.
I really want to add them to my fish list. Do you guys know where I can catch them in westen Broward County? All the help will be appreciated.

Well fisher dave for the Midas Cichlid get some butter or white bread go to Palmetto Bay and look for a park called Coral Reef park great place for Midas Cichlid they are bright gold and you can see them easily from shore. The park is free to enter and a great family place also but its in SE dade county and i also live in western broward county so its a long drive

Couldn't tell you the name of the lake but I think its on Shotgun Rd in Davie heading W towards 75 (you can basically see 75 from it) its on the south side of the road in front of an industrial complex area. I have caught plenty of Cichlid's there-many from last summer. I catch them on fly. I have also caught a few and seen some recently in the New River canal along W state Rd 84 this year-west of Nob Hill. :dude:

lakes around western broward hold alot of oscar. I catch alot on live worms under a bobber (a great googan way to get them) or crappie jig work well too. The worms also produce alot of other cichlids, tilapias. Also try going a little bit east to pasadena lakes on pines blvd were the kmart is at. There are some monster cichlids back there.
