insane new spot!!

Post by chris21 »

a couple months ago I marked this interesting looking spot on google maps hoping to find peacock, I finally decided to check it out last thursday since I was in the area, upon arriving to a pipe I see the regular crowd of largemouths, cichlids and tilapias. The water was pretty murky but I continued on and came upon another nice pipe with a few pads offering cover, I cast the unfair lures I was using and ripped it across this pipe and instantly a big flash gulped it down! the fish looked very big and I thought I had the largemouth of my dreams on until the most unexpected surprise came to the surface, it was a snook! and a nice one too! didnt have any kind of scale or measuring device on me but he was a nice chunky snook that was easily between 5-10lbs, after a couple quick photos she was released to fight another day. moments later I picked up my fly rod and twitched the fly right in front of the same pipe the snook was in and a peacock came scrambling out of there and took my fly, my day was just made, not only did this new spot have peas, but also snook?!? A couple days later I returned with a buddy of mine and it was an epic day for peacock, we came upon this pipe and instantly noticed a large 5lb male peacock just cruising around. the bait didnt last long before the peacock was all over it!! after a couple pics we released her and moved on to another pipe. when we got to this other pipe thats where the fun really started! there was a nice 4lb peacock swimming around and tried our artificials, the peas would chase but no commitment so we took out a small live cichlid and seconds after hitting the water it was game on!! after about a 1 minute fight we had her in, during the fight the commotion attracted an even larger peacock that looked to be around 7lbs! I quickly pitched a cichlid in its face and hooked her instantly! after about 2 minutes the big brute tired out and my buddy landed it for some photos! the big one weighed an even 6lbs. no snook were caught today but we caught some epic peacock, a 4,5 and 6lber all in less than 20 min!! this great new spot will see my face again soon!

Just say you caught them and leave it at that, bragging about a "secret spot" a bit childish. Don't want people to know where you're fishing, don't post, fishing is about personal satisfaction, not sticking it on some ones face.
