My wife and I got out fishing on Tamiami Thursday and this morning. Thursday we picked up around 10 small lmb, and two larger lmb. They all came on 5” senkos (watermelon w/ large red & green flakes), texas rigged, no weight casting to the pad clumps and deep grass on the far bank. Here are some photos from the first day: Here's the biggest from Thursday: This morning we went back out. Fishing was slower with only around four small lmb and one chunky fellow. All the small ones have been all the same size, both days, maybe around a foot or so and I would say schooled up since we would catch a few in one spot and then repeat.
This morning we worked senkos, same color/size/rig. One tip which worked great is to use super glue on the top of the senko where it meets the eye of the hook. Senkos are great but expensive and don’t hold up well. The biggest issue we find is that they pull down the hook eventually tearing at the nose of the worm and not staying in position. We saved a bunch of plastic with the glue and helped a single worm last a really long time – just thought I would share
Anyway – the handful of small bass were caught either on a senko or on a paddle tail purple worm (6”) with a bullet weight texas style – thanks all for the suggestions on the other post, worked well
