SEKFC (South East Kayak Fishing Club) (Not SFKFC)

Post by Yak-Attack »

We are meeting April 26th at 7:00 PM at kayak Jeff's. Everyone is welcome to come who paddles or is thinking about getting into paddle fishing. We had a good turn out last month and I hope its even bigger this month as the sport continues to grow larger each month.

My guest speaker had to cancel but promised to return next month when he had time.

So we are going to talk about places to launch your yak from. Please bring in a picture of your favorite place to put in if you can or just let us know about the launch site. Tell us the pros & cons of launching there.

Send me an email if you need directions or have questions.

PM EDT Subject: Everglades General Management Plan Newsletter
Published, Public Workshops Scheduled

Friends,

As part of the General Management Plan (GMP) process for Everglades
National Park, the Preliminary Alternatives newsletter has just been
published.
The document is available for review and comment and a series of public
workshops have been scheduled.

There will be 6 public workshops held, each from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with
two separate, repeated sessions at each workshop (5:00 – 6:30 p.m. and
6:30– 8:00 p.m.). There will be overview presentations at 5:15 and 6:45
p.m. Before and after the presentations, there will be opportunities to
learn more about the project through informational displays, and by asking
questions and providing your ideas to park staff.

Date Location

June 13 International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame, 300
Gulfstream Way, Dania Beach, FL 33004

The public comment period closes July 2, 2007. If you cannot attend one of
the workshops there are several other ways to participate:

Visit the NPS Planning website: http://parkplanning.nps.gov to learn
more about the project, view or download the newsletter and comment
form, and submit comments via the internet. Simply select “Everglades
National Park” from the drop down box and then follow the link for
the General Management Plan/East Everglades Wilderness Study.

To receive a copy of the GMP – Preliminary Alternatives newsletter by
mail, please call the park at 305-242-7700. If you are prompted
by the voicemail system, press 2 at the 1st prompt and press 5 at the
second prompt to leave your mailing address information.

Following the public comment period, the planning team will analyze the
input and begin the process of selecting a preferred alternative. The
team will prepare the Draft GMP / East Everglades Wilderness Study (EEWS) /
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) over the next year,
releasing the draft in mid-2008. The Final GMP / EEWS / EIS and Record of
Decision are presently on target for approval in 2009.

For more information or questions, contact Fred Herling, Everglades
National Park Planner at 305-242-7704 or fred_herling@nps.gov

SEKFC Meeting?????

Post by Yak-Attack »

 Sorry guys, I have not had time to set up a good meeting and last month the wind messed up the day in Boynton Beach. I will be gone the Thursday we should have the meeting June 28th, but I could meet next Thursday the 21st if anyone wants to meet at Jeff's as long as he is ok with it. I need a little help on topics from you guys :? I know we all want to get out on the water for a day of fishing as a group ( I know I do!!! :P ) but we need some good topics or a guest speaker to come in and talk. Luii, you said you could get some girl to come in and teach recue and safty stuff. How about you give her a call and we set up something one Thursday. I would like to keep the safty topics going as well as the fishing ideas. I'm open for suggestions from anyone and please tell more people about the group, I know that Jeff turned two people onto it. I'll call Jeff today & see what his plans are for June 21st. Lets keep this thing going so we can have a fish off against the other clubs this summer or fall.

Later, 8)
