Key Biscayne

As mentioned in the other posting in this section, I went to Key Biscayne this past weekend. As for launching, it's the most convenient launching I've ever done. There is a huge stretch of sand which you just back into, unload the kayak almost directly into the water, lock up your vehicle and just start paddling. Fishing is only about 50-100meters from the shore, so you can keep your eyes on your vehicle, too! I want to go to the Everglades in two weeks to try fishing there. From what I've gathered off the internet, launching there should be fair. I'll report back later.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to mapquest it and if it's within driving range, I'm going there this weekend. Any suggestions on trying for muttons?

Thanks for the info. I can't tell you how much time I spent on the internet trying to find out where Monument Island was. Apparently, it's got more than one name. Anyway, I found it. I will do a recon to see how I can paddle out there. Is it possible to just drive to the site or does it have to be accessed by water. Sounds really cool though. I'm sure when I conduct my recon, I will be able to answer some of my own questions. Anyway, I'm heading back out to Key Biscayne this evening. I'll report. Thanks again for the info.

APKIM: What was the alternative name to Monument Island? Thanks..

The alternate names were: Flagler Memorial Park, The Henry Flagler Memorial Island, Flagler Memorial Island, Flagler Monument Park, etc. It all seemed like varients of the same basic name: Flagler Memorial Park Island. It seems like you get more hits on the internet if you use the Flagler Memorial series names instead of just Monument (of course, in my opinion).
