Hi All...new guy here!
I am headed to Marco Island in mid-April and the budget this year is keeping me from my annual charter. So I was hoping I could get some advice from you guys as I'll be fishing from the beach. I've been down there quite a few times but never really seriously fished from shore. I've seen snook early in the am in the troughs near shore, but they are really spooky.
So what should I use? Will I just get tired arms with artificials? I know the backcountry guys won't even consider lures in April...it's all white bait.
Any help you could offer would be great.
Thanks!!!

Try to catch whatever bait is in the surf, and throw it out for snook. Never fished there but but my friends parents vacation there all of the time and his dad fishes, he does well shark fishing there too.

Welcome.
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Bump.....
Hey all...two years past and I am back with another question.
Firstly however - Thanks for the tips in 2010. Had a great trip. My son and I beat the water daily and caught countless jacks, ladyfish, sheepshead, one critter I think is called a lizardfish and even a small shark from the beach.
So...I am headed down to beach fish in April and figured I'd ask you vets of SW Fla beaches...what is the best tackle shop in the Marco/Naples area?
Thanks again!

I've caught whiting in the surf - but what I liked better was seatrout underneath the bridge connecting Marco with the mainland. Snook also there but all I got were too small. Have fun!

There is a shallow water lagoon to wade at tigertail beach, caught reds, snook, jacks, ladyfish, and trout there. All on jerkbaits rigged weedless.

Walk slow, and carry a big Snook.

I had good action with jacks and ladyfish on the point South of the inlet. Also, jacks along the sea wall of Isle of Capri. There is a good sandbar for wading just East of the mainland bridge. Jacks and snapper are just off the drop-off. There are reds up in mangroves, if you can access them. Live shrimp, jerkbaits and gold spoons have been my weapons of choice.
