Current Information on Sea Legs III

Post by seyephi »

Looking for current information on the Sea Legs III. The wife wants to go on a party boat close to home (Ft Lauderdale) and it seems the choice of most is the Sea Legs III. But I don't see any recent reports. Anything recent would help. I've been checking reviews for other charters and they don't have the same following as the Sea Legs III. Thanks in advance.

I finally made it out on the Sea Legs yesterday for the afternoon drift and all in all it was a pretty good experience even though nothing was biting. I liked how the Cap was not opposed to steaming around looking for hungry ones. Only a few small snapper, squirrel fish, triggers, and a couple weird ones I didn't recognize came over the rail. I vertical jigged the whole time and was cut off presumably by a king and I landed a decent Lesser AJ and about a 5 lb runner. That was it, but it was a beautiful day. To reiterate some previous comments - bring your own gear if you can, a broomstick and 10 oz weights seem like overkill for fishing in <200 feet of water. My roommate didn't feel one bite.

Fished again this past Saturday (2/1) and it was about as slow as slow gets. Managed one 16.5" mutton on a live pilchard in about 175 ft of water. Only two other edible fish were caught... Not even a jack on a jig... Water actually ended up being pretty rough. Will most likely be trying again next week. Are we sure this is the best boat? I'm assuming it's just a combo of time of year and weather.
