flamingo drift boat !never again!

Post by willyescoto2226 »

So I headed this morning with some friends to the sea legs III only to learn that they had charter the boat with 40 people...yuck. my friend told me let's go on the flamingo then. I hesitated a little after the bad reviews that boat has from this forum, but I still decided to go. (Bad idea)

Went fishing probably a few feet away from the port everglades inlet and nothing. We stayed on the same spot for about an hour and a half and nobody, nobody had not even a bite. The captain did not even care about the people that where telling him to find a better spot. After a while I guess he got bored and moved us to another spot, very close to where we where and the same.

Total fish caught on the boat was one. Small vermilion and a sand eal. Sorry almost forgot the fake foot with blood that won the poll

What a waste of a beutifull day. I know that fishing can be bad but when a captain does not care if people catch fish I think its a insult for the customer.

So as long as I live a will not go on that boat ever, not even if they pay me .
Just needed post.

Regards

Who was running the boat ? I used to crush the fish on that boat a few years ago.i fished it once or twice a week. New captains started and the mate left and the fishing became as you described it. Lots of pointless drifts for nothing. I haven't been back on since.

I used to do really well when Capt Matt and Joe the mate worked the boat. They generally cared about catching fish. Even when they didn't you felt that they gave an effort to try and do so. It's a shame that some captains don't realize that in today's Internet age one lazy trip can destroy business.

I work on the boat currently and could tell you it wasnt me! Lol, I dont think you can base a boat performance off one trip. If so youll have a lot of disappointed people for every boat

yes, you are right...u cant base one bad day of fishing and assume that the captain sucks, BUT if he does NOTHING to try and make a difference, then he flat out SUCKS and needs to find a new JOB!!! most people that fish often and are regulars, dont mind being skunked, but when ur wasting hours in one spot thats not producing, then you need to reevaluate the captain's eagerness to cater to the customers and make them happy...even if you move and there arent any results, then people can at least say, he tried....u can move 10x and fishing can be bad everywhere!!! its about the BUSINESS!!! and the customers are what will keep it running!

Yes. Joe is back, the fishing hasn't been so good lately but some have been caught. here are a few pics on the Flamingo fish caught with cubanexpress jigs. This is my wife friend's husband. I took him fishing for the very first time and got him on 2 trigger fish and 2 king fish back in February. He was extremely happy with the boat and so was I. I guess is not all the time when a captain or two will go out of their way to get you on the fish. On this trip Joe asked the captain to head South and he did and we caught some fish.
