Seems like a good deal for a 6 hour trip. Of course it always depends on how good of a captain the boat has as well as the crew. If they can't put you on good spots its just a waste of time and money.

There are a few things that you can do to avoid from getting snagged .

1 Fishing line> if you are using braid in jetty than be ready to get nicks on your line, and
lose big fish when you do hook up...

I put the line in my mouth (not the lead) while throwing, but in some of the waters where I catch bait, this probably isn't the best idea either; plus, even doing this you jerk your teeth sometimes on...

I needed a knot that would be able to connect 80 lb braid main line to 250 lb mono..the knot i use for lighter leader doesn't work..250 lb line is not good for tying, especially to a main line that is...

Those are great knots. For braid and mono connection I used to use uni to uni. Now I use a Worm Knot. It is quicker and the mono protects the braid on the knot.

The San Diego knot is use heavily...
