well done!Xpierrat wrote:Actually we tossed a whole mac on the deck and when he went for it Domic grabbed him and we got the plug out of his side...flew off before we could give him the fish so it went back in the cooler... I'll see if I can lose it to a mac in the AM

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
Macs around but they are finicky...combine that with the wind and it has been tough fishing.... still better than a flat calm clear day though.... got a bonnie, 3 macs and a big Cero from 10 AM till 4 PM.... all but one was on live bait...biggest mack was 5 pounds. Cero was good on the grill...kept the blue X rap safely locked up in the box.

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
Hit it again today from 7 till 2 pm..... Just a bit breezy to say the least..... set up my Pin rig (AKA 2 rod trolly) and slid out sand perch to see what might be around... a nice mac almost right away then it was dead for quite a bit.... heated up again couple of hours after high tide... ended up with several mac's ( none as big as the 5 pounder from yesterday ) lost several to pulled hooks and saw a bunch that hit the baits but missed the hooks... leaving the usual heads or tails with the hooks still in them
also another bonnie that did a smoking run and while it was out a good 75 yards or so something BIG got after it making big holes in the water....hit free spool for a couple of seconds and let the fish run like crazy allowing it to get away from what ever was trying to make din din out of it...A big shark I guess.... then brought it back in to the gaff.... nothing followed it in so what ever it was lost interest when it high tailed it out of there.
saw several other nice macs, most on freelined or snobbled hoos... Ryan was trying out the pin rig method and had at least one mac before I left... Mike got a nice 6 pound crevie.... add in the usual number of small sharks and that was about it before I left.... fish were biting but had to leave.... Oh ya brother Dave teamed up with Dominic for a tag team job on this little guy.... A nice reward for fishing thru more than a few sharks...
Well back to work for the next 4 days....

Dave has done pretty well as of late on big muttons there.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
Was out fishing today from about 7am till 9-10 pm.
Not much action going on in the morning, west wind...
At about noon the wind was coming from the NE and the bite picked up at about 2. Saw 7 or so macs caught, most 5+lbs, i think all on live hoos off the T. Also saw a 10+ bonita landed.
Action stopped at sunset, and got a nice little bluefish run from 8-830. Action was pretty dead after that.
Live gogs in the morning were producing some small AJS, think i saw around 10 come up.
Anyways, beautiful day out there.
Nice meeting you Keith and the guys, thanks for the wealth of knowledge!

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
went out from 5:30- 11a. when the sun came up lots of jacks started coming over the rail. mainly on gotchas. and most were a nice size.
after about an hour or so it died down.
saw jacks and macs were being pulled up here and there but most were being thrown back.

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
Was a long day....daylight to dark.... Morning was as Xmarllyx said some good 3 to 4lb jacks...and just a few Macs of any size.... got two nice Pomps on yellow/white goofy, and gave them to Keith to go with the one he got... ours were all good no need to measure types...did see two others caught but they were small..... a strong gusting SE wind all day made it hard fishing....
water color was a good green.... it was a mac here and there but very few of any size.... Did get another short cobe and saw one other one caught.... later in the day around 5 ( high tide ) I Got two more good pomps on some fleas that were given to me and passed the pomps on to Charlie.... who was not even off the pier when I got another one and as dark set in I got my sixth good keeper for a limit of good pomps.... BUT it took all day and a bunch of jigging to say the least with more than a few Jacks and moonfish tossed in the mix.
Got to work the next several days so the bite should pick up....

Thanks again Rick for the Pomps. Don't forget all the fish you gave to good old Walter too.. BTW I stopped at T&R and picked up a box of 25 goofy jigs plus other goodies.....Last few days of fishing I lost a bunch of tackle.

Re: Anglins Pier Fishing Reports 2011 "ONLY REPORTS"
slow like crash said. i left around 11a with not much going on. i had a pelican take my xrap and it ended up getting itself hooked on its foot and wing. it made it to the beach and i was able to remove the xrap!
that was pretty much my excitement for the day
ill be out there again tomorrow!
