Dania Pier Fishing Reports 2010 "ONLY REPORTS"

Loads of little Ladyfish inshore. Bunch of Runners deeper. Didn't see any slots caught today that I know of. Lot of Spanish Macks in the evening out near the end. A few Muttons. Bait solid of all sizes. Last Monday I had a small (100 lb size) Tiger swim out from under the pier while I was Snookin". Very shallow. Pretty cool to see.

Fished today from 0700-1130. Wind 8-10mph east mostly clear waters and calm surf. Baits mostly on the 1st part of the pier. Lots and lots of ladyfish mostly 15-20 yards from the beach, non stop action from morning till i left, first time ive seen a ladyfish mayhem, very entertaining and fun to catch. I caught 3 undersize mangroves and tossed them back. 1 guy caught a 14inch mac. Thats the only action i saw today. Till next time...

Fished from 11-130 today. Bait was at the T and plenty of action with the macks. They were hitting the live baits but I caught some ceros and a spanny on a white crappie jig. Action was definetely there. Also was swimming yesterday when two nice sized pods ran down the beach just north of sheridan. They were so close I was swimming in the pod...

hit it at 6:30am saturday morning. tons of bait. lots of snook. and of course.....blue runners everywhere. even saw some ladyfish.

bounced outta there around 8:30am after i loaded up on bait and headed south.

got out there at 11:00a.m. pier was packed. jacks,ladyfish and macks coming over the rail. strong north winds.bait was there but not as thick. I hooked into 2 macks.one with live bait and another with a yellow gotcha.

went out last night, tide made it so you can practically get your feet wet at the parking lot lol. major erosion.

anyways started fishing at sunset and managed to tangle with some ladyfish while throwing lures. bought live mullet earlier and cut them up figuring something would bite but nothing came. had more action on live grunts(probably sharks) and then finally caught a short spinner on a mullet chunk.

I got a phone call from my brother on Friday morning about 9am. He said lots of Pomps came over the rails but most all under size. Jigs and shrimp seemed to be the preferred bait.

FWC showed up for a spot check and nailed one guy for undersized Blues and Pomps. Several people on the pier warned the guy that they were under size but he refused to listen and threw them in his cooler anyway. You gotta be tough if your gonna be stupid!

That guy was actually escorted off the pier cause he filet his pompano.That is so stupid so he deserved to be taken off the pier.I hope he never comes back to fish at Dania pier.
The pompano's were actually very small and not 1 keeper was caught.There was a few blue fish and some very small jack's in the mix as well.I saw a few mack's caught and 1 lady caught a small bonita about 11 inches as well.

The little ones come first in the fall migration. Be patient.

so i guess pompano is one fish that has to be fillet over land as well as snook.
interesting. i dont know the rules as to what all fish can be cleaned over water or not but pomp is a negative i see. when i use to keep fish for consumption only... i only cleaned them when i was home.

All regulated fish can not be filleted on the pier. You can gut and scale, but they must be in whole condition.

Different now. They are scattered out more now, so you have to look around at times. Not many fishing for them. But I still see them. At times they are away from the pier and you have to wait for wandering ones cruising the surf back to the pier.

fished dania yesterday from 1400-1600H. calm sea, looks like a swimming pool, a ball of ladyfish 10-15 yards from the beach, didn't see any mullet, lots of barracuda underneat the hut. houndies all over...till next time

fished dania pier tuesday evening from 6 30 to 10 and caught 4 short snappers and some blue runners. no one else seemed to be catching much either but as we were leaving saw 5 bluefish caught all keepers. will try again thursday but winds still look wrong throughout the week

fished dania from 1200-1330h. no bait, no fish except for houndies and barracudas,same story during the morning according to my pal. on my way out i saw a school of small jacks heading north, manage to catch one, threw it in front of a 4 foot barracuda and immediately got hooked, what a fight, cant pull him up so i cut my line. Dania has been slow, thinking of going to juno tomorrow, might be worth the trip....tight lines!!!!

Yesterday, bunch of Macks. Some bigger ones too. Loads of Ladyfish still inshore. Solid school of bait at the T the last couple days. A few Blues in the dark.

Fished this morning. I got a few keeper Pomps. Bait was solid. Jacks were just as solid. Saw nice Macks cruising the inshore. Been some nice Macks all week.
