Blacktip Challenge 2011 - Shark Photos and Friends

Post by Snook hunter »

I fished the Challenge with the Tarponator (7 years old) and Shark Wrestler. We had a few special guest from NY show up one night. Tarponator landed 3 Blacktips and he could of had four but we could not wake him up. We stood him up, put on his harness and carried him to the rod. He just couldn't wake up so we gave the rod to some friends from NY and they landed their 1st shark.

Tarponator won an honorary award for the male small fry, which is a IGFA category. Peter Barrett was a gentleman and awarded him one of the rods. The rod is GREAT!!! Pete did a fantastic job!!! The Tarponator hugged and kissed the rod in the car on the way home and showed all his friends in the neighborhood. He wanted to bring it to school the next day but we stopped him and said he could wear the tournament shirt instead.

His birthday is coming up and we were going to have a standard party, but now he wants to have a SHARK FISHING BDAY PARTY with a few friends sleeping over on the beach so he can use his new rod!!!!!!

Good job to tarponator! Not to hijack your thread, but do you have any specs on that spinning rod with the staal? That thing looks sweet!

Custom Calstar made for the Tarponator. I was down on the rod for casting when I first got it, but its starting to win me over. I will post specs and pics for you soon.
