placencia BELIZE
to make a long story short i moved to belize from miami about a month ago in search of a different lifestyle. well, i sure as hell found it. it is absolutely beautifull out here. im in a small fishing village on a lil 11 mile peninsula on the coast of southern belize. i love it.
its a third word country so the living conditions are a bit ruff, but i can dig it.

Good to hear you finally made it out. Good luck to your new future. Where else can you fish and carry a AK-47?
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Glad to hear you are still above ground, man. Enjoy life.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Very cool video and I would love to go to some of those places in south america and fish, shorebound. Good for you man taking the road less traveled. My sister went to Thailand 2 or so years ago and will not come back to the states. Must be something about getting away from it all.

Re: placencia BELIZE
How do you go about getting your gear (rods, reels, line, hooks) down there? I used to work with a guy who's brother used to ship his hand guns down to Guatamala a peice at a time. You know like a handle in one package the barrel in another clips in another. My father spent 10 years in the Pacific in the 90's, on an island called Kawajalene (spelling) close to Bikini Atoll, he never was a fisherman but told storeys of the hardcore fisherman transplants there that used to slay the fish, day in and day out, like America via 1950. You have to go off the beaten path to fish like that anymore. Jumbo sharks, snappers whatevers in the lagoon and even radder days out in the boat in the open ocean on wreaks and dropoffs. Someday I'll do it hopefully. I got roped into South Florida to hard though to do it now.

Rods? Reels? All he needs is a yo yo, a gaff, and lots of beer.Boca Jetty Rat wrote:How do you go about getting your gear (rods, reels, line, hooks) down there? 305, when you get bored head out to the flats. They have Permit down there.

Legal poaching is kind of an oximoron isn't it? At the very least a countradiction in terms. As many times as I have been to San pedro sula Belize I don't recall much in the way of fishing regulations. I do recall Some of the best flats fishing in the world. Never got a Permit or landed a poon. But the bone fishing is awsome!
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

Re: placencia BELIZE
as gear goes, my friend drives to texas once in a while to rack up. the fish laws protect bonefish, tarpon, and permit because they attract alot of flyfishing tourists. i dont think there is much enforcement going on, i think my village police dept dont even have a boat, regardless the enforcement over here can be paid off on the spot. the flats are nice, but the barrier reef is where its at. belize has the second largest barrier reef system in the world. we are just about done ship shape-ing for the reef trips. spots like glovers reef and gladden spit are like underwater disney worlds, its amazing. there are a few true atolls here, too. glovers is one of them. ohh bolo the permit pass thru the beach behind the house, so even better. tommy come visit, man wenever your ready. youll love it. dude rent is like a hundred bucks u.s. a month and your ON THE BEACH. i got a tarpon video coming soon. here is some pics of the beach i live and the pet squash.

It is a coatimundi. Not bad when they are small but can get nasty when they mature.

todays report--- last night we set a ''set line'' a piece of 60 mono tied to a mangrove with a 7/0 circle hook and a chunk of cravalle and this afternoon out comes a 9LB CUBERA... sorry guys too late for pics we were hungry. we have also caught jewfish, snook, rays, and eels using set lines in the lagoon overnight.

when you try to grab him he bites the crap out of you. but he follows me around the house and outside and he eats mangos bananas papaya lizards meat bugs whatever he can get. he also comes when you whistle. also quite mischevouse and destructive in the house so we started to keep him loose outside and he seems happier. he doesnt leave though he stays around the porch climbs trees and chills on the roof.
