Did some trouting this weekend in sanibel since miami was so windy, caught two nice gators and tons of smallies.

Good looking fish. You going to eat them

gota use the wood board method to cook those things.

Very interesting. Nice fish. Now here is my question, how is the bloom affecting the fishing? Did you see any dead ones? Dead grass?

I was under the impression that the whole area is doing poorly due to an algae bloom exacerbated by the nutrient rich waters of Lake O being pumped out currently.

Now that you mentioned it I did catch a three eyed Jack the other day

Yea was talking with the guy at whitneys about it, he said the bloom was only offshore for a few days and died out. But told me water is really dilute freshwaterwise in the bay and muddy colored compared to how i remember last year. Saw some grass floating but close to usual of what i see. But fishing is also not near as good as last year now that u say it for sheeps and redfish.

Fair enough. I have been known to go up there from time to time and educate the local linesider population... mostly the little ones so far, there is enough to keep you busy for as long as you can afford the $4 / hour bat poop crazy parking...

Pretty much same deal here, i usually stick to the causeway with my yak or the ding preserve(10$ for year pass). The 4$ parking is so crazy i refuse after spending all the gas to get there.

Nice haul though!
