Post by hcmccain »

 am going to be spending the last week in April on St. George Island. Haven,t done much saltwater fishing. would like to catch some fish to eat. can anyone tell me where the best places to fish on the island. have researched how to fish for trout, drum, pompano, whiting, etc. Have heard saltwater cat fish are not good to eat????

You fish off the beach, pomps and Spanish max will probably still be around. Cobia will be cruising by anytime So I would have a 20 to 30 pound rod set up with jig Waiting just in case you see any. Also the redfish will be close to the shoreline. If you don't like that you can go on the Bayside it probably catch trout and redfish.
If you make any kind Of road trip Eastpoint and Indianpass are also good locations.
