Then I guess I'd have to get my lazy ass all the way to the driveway and clean out and hook up the boat. I am spoiled by the 10 minute drive to Dania pier! Boat has been sitting idle for 7 months!!

I could not find a single mullet today on Fort Lauderdale beach. Buuuuuuut I brought yesterday's frozen pilchards and in 25 mins (approx 5:15-5:40am) I limited out on snapper in the surf... Between 12-16"... Nice ones. Filleted and in my fridge!

Sweet Mother of God Joey but that's the biggest mullet I've ever seen! I've heard of "hog leg" this and "hog leg" that on the threads for a month now. I bet most guys are using the term incorrectly. Thanks for the pic bud

We use mullet that size when we fish the Roosevelt bridge. Big snook and tarpon love them. I've seen them upto 8-10lbs on lake okeecobee.

I watched the pod getting dive bombed by pelicans for over an hour before the tarpon and sharks were on em. I was at 2nd and 3rd and could see it happening down on 7th st. I was interviewed by channel 7 news and it was on at 12. Lol.

Wow...Funny thing is I actually walked to probably about 4th. I did see pelicans diving from the sky but I don't know why I didn't walk further down. I guess I was being lazy. Where you able to get anything off the pod?

Nice! You catch anything? The snook seemed to be on the chew with the moon, albeit ALL were under 25", yet plentiful!

After researching FWC rules and determining it's legal, bought a couple snatch hooks yesterday. Big trebles with 1-1/2 oz weight on the shank. Hope to go tomorrow evening and this weekend and track down some big mullet. Never tried snatching them before but have snatched for salmon in Alaska. Aside from hoping for passing schools around Dania pier, any suggestions for maybe intercostal, Whiskey creek, or Dania cutoff canal as far as places to find them?

if you look enough you will for sure find them in the ICW along seawalls and bridges. I dont know broward too well but i'm assuming the saltwater residential canals should have too....hear the PE jetty usually has some too....if you want text me later...i'm off this weekend and will be fishing tomorrow night and prob sunday morning

Snatching in Alaska????? Last time I was there it was illegal to use treble hooks fishing for salmon. You had to snip off two barbs which I thought was very cool. Serious conservation rules up there.

Believe it or not it is legal in some places. Think it has to be in salt water and certain designated areas are closed to snatching. A lot of people get nailed for doing it in places you're not supposed to and they lose all their gear and get stiff fines. Used to do it from shore near a hatchery in Juneau for Coho salmon in late summer, but if you were too close to the hatchery or on a fishing dock near there you couldn't snatch and people would get caught trying to do it often. But anyway, were supposed to be talking about mullet on this thread!
