Post by wahookeith »

Heading down for the first part of Spring Break (gotta do the Disney thing for the 2nd half of the trip :( :( which sucks! ) Where is the best noboat fishing in the Sanibel area? I'm willing to drive a bit if i have to. thanks for the help!

Look no further than the beachs or Sanibel pier. The beaches and pier will yield snook, tarpon, sharks, trout, redfish , jacks, pompano, mackeral, bluefish, ladyfish, snapper, sheepshead, drum.... Hard to beat artificals or live shrimp for bait.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Thanks for the help. Any info about Bowman's beach? didn't know if that was a little more off the beaten path. Was kind of hoping I could fish a bit without standing next to 10 other fishermen.

Not familar with that beach. From my experience down there all the beaches produce esp those near the passes. Get out at sunrise with a shadtailed grub with some silver or copper sprinkles on a 1/4 oz jighead or a topwater and walk along the beach. Put some 25 - 40 lb leader in your pocket , a 6 1/2 - 7 ft spinning rod and a reel with 8 - 10 lb test , and a pocketful of lures and take a walk til you find the fish. Great way to start the day.

the pier is good live bait works best (greenies) also ding darling is good at the flood gates , fish the side where the water is flowing out of use shrimp or gold spoons for red and snook.

8) Fish the beach in these windy fronts and you'll be fishing in mud.

I bet the conditions change in the next month before he heads down.

8) These cold fronts are breeding like rabbits.
