The Adventure begins again.
The adventure begins again. Surrounded by cyclones this year. Not a clue what's in store for us. Rods and tackle box left a week ago last tuesday got there yesterday. All my Okuma's have been serviced again for free. All the SEa series reels come with a 5 year warranty including normal service and cleaning. Just pay shipping like 7 bucks.
Anyone who wants can follow on Red Roosters FB page. I'll update through FF73. This years sights are on a super cow. Got my cow last year at 232.4. Now I'm gunning for 300. Boat leaves at 9:00 and then 16 days out.

I only did half the work and maybe even less than half. When I catch one on my own rod and I do the hole fight then I can post it all over. Going back in March

A sore monster to be sure. As always a great trip with great friends and a goofy crew that's just as nuts as the rest of us. I got pic's and some great stories. Even got to see the crew in action on a bigger cow that was spooling Canada Pat. Short version, they hooked up Pats rig to an 80w penn reel sporting 300 pound line. Then tossed his rod and reel overboard. Pat holds the 80 while the crew goes into launch mode. They swing the dingy out off the upper deck and into the water. One of the crew, in this case Tom, one of the captains, rides it off the upper deck and into the water. Pat climbs in and away they go. At one point we could no longer see the dingy. A little over 2 hours later they finally return with Pats fish in tow. Pretty cool to watch.
Overall a miserable slow start. Very few wahoo and tuna were scarce. No real steady grade with fish between 60 and 250, and a real lean bite. Bait was small this year requiring small hooks. 5/0 was about the biggest hook you could use which caused a huge number of hook pulls. I lost 3 to hook pulls, 2 of which were good fish but pulled within the last 20 feet. Had my windon at the reel for 2 of the 3. The third one pulled 20 min in. We actually caught most of the tris big fish within sight of Cabo. Weather was not bad most of the time. No rain at all and only had big water a couple days at the island and one day on the way home. I'll post up the pics as soon as I figure out how to resize em without tiny pic. Can't seem to get through their advertising pop ups. Saw my second super cow caught by Ben Kita. A 78 year old retired pharmacist. Old dog barely broke a sweat. No clue how he does it. I decked 2 cows in one day and I was done. He'll deck 4 and be fishing for #5 in a matter of minuets. He may stop to get a drink but otherwise he's always on the rail. Rudy officially broke his worst start ever record going 7 days without a tuna. He had the troll jacket with his first fish first day of fishing. Big wahoo but I forget the weight. Excell plugged the boat at the bank but all smaller fish so I heard. They returned a day early.

I sent mine back to the factory. Ontario California. Came back like new. Both my 20 and 30 are still in great shape. Except for a 125 kite fish on my 50W I caught the trip on those 2 reels. Having problems with tinypic. Working on posting up some pics.
