OK so I started looking into vert jigging and came across something that's called slow pitch jigging aka slow pitch jerk. I could not find much info most of it was in Japanese it looks like speed...

Just wondering for those that vertical jig, what does you estimate your weight of your rod and reel combo to be?

I think my combo might be more on the heavy side

I vj with a battle 5000. If I recall correctly it has the same drag as the 6k but weighs about and ounce less. I've landed mutton, gags, kings, ajs, and so forth on it. Never had any problems.

So being new to this and what I am reading you will need 250 gram jigs or more if you are over 200' water depth is that correct. What are you all using on the boats your going out on.

If you speak to Jim at Eastern Tackle his basic guide to jigging in 1g for every 1ft.

This is what I was told and has never let me down. On side note I will jig 400 - 500ft tho with 250 - 300g jigs...
