Believe it or not there's a lot of jerks out there, you'll be surprise the things do with their boats. Just make sure you go to places where there's not a lot of boat traffic.Cookinman wrote:Bright Colorful ( Yellow and Red ) kayaks as well as Orange paddle blades that you wave....

You just gotta hope, there are plenty of jerks that should not be on the water in personal water-craft and boats, but when its your day its over.

just get hit and take one for the team. itll make the other boaters more cautious after you get hit

Re: kayak question...
the best thing way to fish a kayak/canoe and avoid boats is go to a no-motor-zone.IM CHUMMING wrote:im really want a yak, theres only one thing that im a little worried about, BOATS when you guys are out there paddlin in the beach area or anywhere theres boat traffic how do you avoid being run over by one?
There is a lot of great places for yaks in the everglades - especially near flamingo. For instance, the lakes beyond the eastern creek at West Lake are nuts! Also Bear lake is still closed because of Wilma, but when that opens it will be a motor zone that hasn't been fished in 3 years!

Re: kayak question...
I've been kayaking off the beach here in LBS for about 4 years and have not had any problems with boats.
Even during lobster mini season there are plenty of boats around and have not had any problems with them respecting my space.
Most boaters are safe and friendly.
The nuts are nuts no matter if you are in a boat or kayak, so I always watch my back.
I probably would not go out during a major holiday weekend when all the amateurs are out.
