I was hoping that this thread would spark people talking about techniques and what they fish for from shore.

Frayedknot,
I don't like to call people out, and maybe you read it wrong. I am talking about fishing FROM SHORE.
I am seriously doubting that you have caught have those species on fly from shore.

Even though its not saltwater, I'll add what I've caught shorefishing the Great Lakes here in MI.

Chinook Salmon, Pink Salmon, Atlantic Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lake Trout, Steelhead, Lake-run Brown Trout, walleye, northern pike, GL musky, smallmouth bass, largemouths, common carp, and burbot.

I hope to add some saltwater species to that list :)

You can catch mullet on a white or green fly. If you find them feedng along, cast it just ahead of them.

Mullet, when hooked will jump like a young tarpon.

You gotta be fast, though! C2

I'm one of those 'Old Dudes' in the Panhandle and I fly fish both fresh and saltwater. I build rods, tie flies and general tinker with tackle making.

You asked the wrong person as I'm always teaching people how to fish, including fly fishing.

Presently, I'm fishing with a 12 foot UL spinning rod made from a crappie blank with tiny jigs and having a ball. Everything feels big on it. Once in awhile, something big hits my tiny jig and it will clean my clock. I just break them off.

Submit your question here or PM me.

P.S.There is a fly fishing club in Pensacola. I don't really know how long it has been in existence.C2

Yeppers! I am familiar with ladder fishing. I have put my time in on one.

There used to be two guys we called the 'Alabama Boys' who wore the white paper painter's coveralls while on the ladder(s). Looked just like they were panting a house. :)

I fish many different ways, badly neglecting my fly rods for other types of fishing. In fact; I may go out tomorrow to practice with one a bit. C2

Just talked to my brother, he said Ft. Pickens is now open. I hope they are doing the "Night Owl" pass again. I plan on being back up in August and hitting it hard. Man I miss red fishing and King fishing down at the nude beach in Navrre.Used to be a deep hole right off the beach. Bet Ivan took most of my holes.....Oh...Milton redneck here..Down here since 2000...
