and figured since it'd be a mortal sin to let them go to waste
I'd just go to the pier and feed them to the fishees
Got to the pier about 5am, it was mild with an offshore breeze blowing into scattered thunderstorms a few miles out in the Gulf.
Quite a lightshow, plus a little distant thunder
The current was incoming at a moderate pace and the water was clear and calm. Only about 6 or 7 other folks on the pier
BIG skipjacks were busting up under the lights so I tried out near the sandbar out of the current.
This lil fella ate my 1st live shrimp offering and posed for a quick pic before returning to the water

It was tough getting a live shrimp past the ladyfish, pinfish, etc.
But I did get a few nice specks...

Dawn broke soon after and it was worth the price of admission

Followed by a glorious sunrise with a Tstorm parked over the mouth of Mobile Bay

I fed the rest of my shrimp to assorted junk fish and the obligatory undersized mangrove snapper and decided to try a DOA.
Sonofagun

It never did rain at the pier but stayed cloudy (and comfortable) most all morning. By 11 am I was the only fisherman on the pier (weird).
Maybe the sandbar encroachment on the pier has something to do with it

I saw at least a dozen of these boogars: Phyllorhiza punctata - “(Australian) spotted jelly”

A nice Marine Resources lady interviewed me before I cleaned my fish.
Nothing big (47mm @ 1kg) but the makins of a good fishfry

It was a very pleasant morning with some decent fish.
Thank You Lord
