Fish identification and size charts?

This area is all about things that can affect the Boatless-Land Fisherman as to State and Local Regulations, Rules that pertain to areas that we may fish and enviromental issues that we need to get involved in. Please read these posts and get invovled. We are stonger in Numbers.

Fish identification and size charts?

Post by G_Loc »

Hello,

Is there a chart I can buy or download that shows drawings of the fish common to South Florida along with their legal size regulations? I found some pictures on FWC's site, but I'd like to have everything on one sheet so I don't have to fumble around turning pages and whatnot

Sports Authority carries a laminated sheet that has pics of the common fish in the area along with how their taste is rated, but it doesn't post regulations with it. They also sell a yardstick that breaks down which lists the fish and its size regulations.

Thanks!

I printed out the regulations and I'll try to head out to Sports Authority to find that chart.

Most Sports Authority, Walmart, and B&T's have the Regss booklet sitting around on the counter free for the taking.

Print this Summary and laminate it:

I went to a Sports Authority nearby and they didn't have anything. I stopped by B&F Marine yesterday and they had a big ruler w/ illustrations of fish on it and the size limits, but it was a decal to stick onto something. I hope they have something at Crook and Crook or Gordan's tomorrow on my way out...

What I did was use a word processor to create a table (2 x 5). In each cell I put a picture of the fish and under it the size and bag limit. Then I took the 2 sheets (back to back) to OfficeMax and had them laminated. When I go fishing, I throw it into the cooler.

It is amazing that you can't just go to a tackle shop and pick on up for $4 or $5 bucks. I'll tell you what. I'll try to make one up as a pdf file. If BF wants to do something with it, I'll donate it to the site.
