This thread is for the first fish of the species you have caught using an artificial lure or jig.

Fn'C--Way to go on your first Snook. He's a little guy, but a Snook is a Snook. My first, way back in the day, I was a teen, was a little guy like that. I remember it like it was yesterday. They'll be many more to come. :toast:

Fn'C--By the way. A DOA Terror Eyz is one of my go to arti's in the surf for Snook and Redfish. Caught my first beach Snook and Redfish on a greenback colored one same day off the beach in Captiva years ago.

thats good to know because redfish is my next target spiecies. i have caught one before but it was like 8 inches on a live shrimp from naples pier. when i went to naples the time before last there was a big school of reds right off the pier but all i had with me was mt pompano rod with a doc's goofy jig.

You bet it did. My first permit from shore, I have never fished for them and I wasn't this time either. The strike was pure luck, I've casted in that same area many thousand of times over 9 years.
