Bimini trip 6-22-07 to 6-24-07

Post by cudaman »

It was nice to go back to Bimini after almost 13 years or so. We began our trip with dolphin fish in the way out 5 peanuts 23" to 25" inchers...On the first day at Bimini it was nice to see a large bull at the docks then catching some cudas in the way out to the fishing spot (pics below). The weather was not so good on the first day but fishing was great the grouper bite was ok but lots of small strawberries is what we caught. We slept on the boat at night and caught lots of yellow tails in the morning (ate yellowtail ceviche the next day) Will got a nice 3 to 4 pounder(no pic). A caribbean reef shark was caught at night but no luck with any other shark, a nasty puking remora was also caught. Slept on the boat the first night and then we dedicated ourselves to catching big bait...Lots of cudas, a bonito, macks, kings, and some bar jacks filled the cooler. We were exausted so we went to sleep at a nice little room in Bimini that night. The following morning it was all quiet we chased some tunas and continued getting some groupers on the patches.

We finally set up for the sharks...Gonesharkfishing' started the day with a small caribbean reef shark (pic below) and it got slow again....the sszzzzzzzzzz panic on the boat looked like a hammer hit but it turned out to be a 5 footer caribbean reef shark (video link below) caught by Crabman...few minutes went byand sszzzz, on gonesharfishing's rod then szzzzz on sharkfever's rod and then it ran. It turned out to be a nice 7 footer tiger shark (video coming soon).

It went slow again.....the remoras were loading up on puking material behind the boat and the yellow tails did not show up.... I put out a live gogle eye, gonesharkfishing put out a live 5 to 6 pound horse eye jack and will put out a live cuda.....i got a mack with the goggle eyea and things went silent again...then szzzzzzzz, szzzzzzzzz, and SZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
MAYHEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $#@%^~!!! DROP THE MAN OVER BOARD BUI!!!! IT"S A BIG ONE!!! The line started going the fight got going, we lost control, what the F@#$? Then I took over the steering and sharkfever sat on the cooler (our fighting chair) Back to normal? (I muted the video and used music or the whole thing would have been BLEEP!,BLEEP!,BLEEP!)...Well after an hour we finally got the beast at boat side, got the leader IITS A CATCH! Then it charged and the battle began as if it was the begining...the a second time at boatside again and the shark was still green WACK a double slap hit sharkfever and me in the head....MAN! it started all over again it went on for another half hour...we setup the measuring tape along the boat using the cleats to secure it placed the rope on the tail and again got WACK! on the head....measured the shark and released it...13' total lenght.
