Accurate Mutant GT & Pro Jigging staff

Post by Rare »

Accurate Mutant GT & the pro jigging staff at boatless fishing (tommy . I recall when the makaira reels hit the market and i almost bought 2 of them. I posted a report here with my old account & because it had the Okuma name, it left everyone with a bad taste in their mouth even when Tiburon was the engineer brainchild of the reel. The reports were coming in & makaira reels were/are the real deal. I was going to buy one and use it on my 1st Yuri trip, but being 2 speed wasnt really needed so i passed. Even though the single speed and double speed were off by only $50+ or so.

Anyways, here comes accuate with their Accurate Mutant GT and seen it a few times but decided to post it here first. I still cant get use to that idea but at least it was meant to fish that way. So, careful at who you are calling a googan unless its a Mutant GT. So what does the pro jigging staff think of this?

PS: it's okay if you have to look at it a few times cause you don't see the mutant in it.

Looks stupid just like the jigging master reel. It's funny how jigging master copied accurate but now they are copying jigging masters reel.

Free spool would take some getting used to. Balls of a conventional with the ease of a spinner. If I jigged more I would be a buyer.

Or people can learn to do it with a conventional and not try to re invent the wheel.

Jiggers tend to favor either spinning or conventional but seldom like both. Both have their plus and minus

I'll give the thread a bump but I just don't get it. So I wasted five minutes and I read about the reel ............. I still don't get it. What is the improvement over using conventional or spinning reels for the same jigging application?

Damn Ronnie I was thinking about you this morning after I watched Nilsens video. I can see you jigging like a wild man on that trip out of Miami. Never saw anyone work harder for a fish. Anyway, I can't see the torque you mentioned being a big enough reason to go rogue on equipment. And there's a learning curve? Faggedaboutit

Rich, It's using the conventional as a spinning reel. (you knew that, right?) So, you are holding it as a spinning reel but as Ron said having torque and great line cap of the conventional. Also, some don't like the conventional reel (jigging )and holding it underarm as they are jigging.....so now you have this

I appreciate the explanation and I know you were sincere. Guess I'm just too old school to change. Maybe if it gave you an advantage.......but I just don't see it. Maybe wait a couple of weeks and watch for them on the 'discontinued' special table.

Now that two speed spinner of yours!!!!!!!! That's a whole different animal :auto: :auto: :auto:

lol Rich

hope you doing fine and brother redneck Rare as well.

That upside down convi is a great thing imo.

I believe I saw some jap video with an upside down convi a year back or so. Do not remember where but a boob tube search should yield some results.

Yeah I loved or love the jigging and did it hard when I was not busy pulling on some green lmao

That's why most of my conventional rods are
Acid configuration Nels. Best of both worlds.
And I can attest to the badassness of the Makaira SEa 2 speed reels. They're what Accurates want to be when they grow up!

Best bang for the buck outa the box reel I've ever bought. Of course with Allen Tanni on the design team, it's hard to expect less.

Not a bad idea, but Ya gotta wonder if accurate just took a fury and modified the bracket. Sure looks like it.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

that reel has to be level wind to lay that line even. so do we need a special rod for this reel also? can i just slap it on a spinner rod. looks like its sits much closer to rod than a spinner.. what makes this any better than a regular conventional thats acid wrap rod?

Just a small learning curve if you already jig. It only took me 8 monthes to perfect my style of fly fishing with the rod backwards.

Finally, someone thought about something outside of box... In my view without trial, this reel is not for spinner jigger because this reel requires right hand (not left hand) to reel...this reel is more for conventional jigger...
In order to reel in fast as right-hander, you have to use right not left. I know it because I use right hand for spinner and conventional...

I think the key is this reel makes center of gravity is below rod...which may make jigging action easier, more rhythmical, and less effort...
It is narrow-spool so that line-winding is not required...
