We broke the inlet around 1230pm. choppy inside but once you got past the sand bar very clean. We set up on my fav spot and I dropped in my first jig of the day. BAM on the drop I get hit he takes a short run and its a decent sized king, In the box he went. Now that I got the skunk off the boat we started jigging again. about an hour later my 80G jig gets hit with the same force as before. reel him in and another nice sized king.
Now things start get interesting. I have caught numerous diff fish on the jig but that monster AJ still evades me. Well I learned today how strong they really are. I started jigging with my 80g jig. The fish weren't hitting the usual 150-200 and being there was no current it worked. I see the wreck on my sonar and drop in. I have been here so many times I can call it out on when to drop. I start jigging and get crushed..... my line starts peeling out I increase the drag and its still just running out. finally he slows down and the fight is on. The fish would move and inch than take a mile. the rod tip would slam into the water on every head shake. 10 min into the fight im drenched in sweat. I put the reel into low gear hoping to make up some ground but that just seemed to piss him off more. now the bad news my fluro leader snapped, and I lost it. My thought were it was either a monster aj or big goliath,
the wreck was full of life though guys with spring coming it should be an interesting year,
