Welcome! I'm fairly new to fishing myself, and I'm living in South Florida now, so I don't know many good spots over on the West Coast. I have family that likes going to the Gandy bridge, Skyway, and some large bridge out in Dunedin.

I grew up in Tampa though, and since you're new to the area, if you ever want some advice on things to do in the area let me know.

Fish the Skyway for landbased. It will take some time but once you learn those two bridges you will be set. Get a kayak or learn the areas to wade fish locally. For headboats the Friendly Fisherman fleet is good.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Welcome to the area. I'm over in Largo, so not too far off. I seldom cross the bridge to the Tampa side, so I can't help much over there, but there are a lot of good places around here. Skyway is probably the most popular, but have a look at War Veteran's Memorial, Boca Ciega Millennium Park, Pier 60, John's Pass (get there before the crowds) and so on. Just look around and you'll find them. Hope you enjoy the area!

Work all the bridges and passes.

Most of the fish will bite from morning until around 12pm. After that pack up and leave or get food and start drinking beer until around 5pm and start fishing again. :-p
