the best thing to do when a "blacktip" shark dies unintentionally is to either harvest it for food... paddle it out far and drop it off the beach or bury it. i guess if you know of a place in the woods to dump it... might be another possibility but dont be seen though. nice report man.

Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

well, i hate to admit it, but that shark was damn good :chef: like steak from the sea. it was a challenge keeping that sharky-amonia smell off the meat, but after some thorough cleaning, some lime juice, and some time on the grill, it made a great dinner, and so much of it that i had to invite the whole family over to help eat it all. also, after watching some "how to" youtube videos i was also able to clean up the jaws too. they're not that big or impressive, but it's definitely a decoration to start a conversation. my daughter wants to bring them in for show and tell next week too  despite the tragedy of the situation, some good things came out of this experience, but hopefully it won't happen too often (especially the part about the shark being pregnant). just got some inline circle hooks too to replace the offsets i was using. hopefully that'll make a difference. :toast:

i told him not piss me off , its not the first one to go over board there , but they guy got his cast net stuck on the pilings and went to go and get it and got in trouble due to the current was pulling him under and beat his butt on the barnacles , im not that stupid to go in and get the net back , ill come back with a snatch hook and get it later !!!

Yeah thats the word. I was using owner 11/0 super mutu circle hooks, but they have a slight offset. I was hesitant to change hooks cause it took ALOT of trial and error to find a hook I like, but I was able to find the same hook in a 12/0 thats straight forged. prolly wont be able to get out again for a couple weeks, but will let u know how they work for me

fished yesterday. saw big blues pushin wake around the rocks. they looked about 10lbs each. caught one that was under 4lbs. a guy got a 9lb jack and that was it. it was very slow that day. hundreds of macks around though. an osprey grabbed one and took off with it to the beach.

First time out there this past weekend and was surprised how fast the water was moving though the inlet. Is it normally like that?

I did't catch anything while there but I saw some pompano bieng cleaned. Also saw a nice redfish going back and a couple of small sheaphead.

current always moves real quick in there. went last night but couldn't shark fish due to the amount of people on the jetties. went to the catwalk and saw a bunch of lady fish up there in the same spot i was at. i ask a person what him and his group were using them for and was told they sell them to a fish house. so much for licenses these days.
