Next time hold the fish closer to the camera and your face further away. :D Nice catch btw.

brunner you're right its only 7'14 i gave myself 2 ounces because 8 lbs is a lot easier than sayin seven pounds fourteen ounces everytime  the picture doesnt do him justice because i dont try to make my fish look bigger than he is like some do  i put my fist in his mouth with plenty of wiggle room to get the hook out, also i have a pretty accurate berkeley scale, theres no sense of lying about how much a largemouth ways, just my opinion lol

geez louize i guess i should take a picture of the scale with my fish on it next time 8) lol i guess i was too worried about getting the guy back in the water so he didnt die, and first thing first, im not trying to start sh*t by any means guys but a fat bass thats right around 2 feet ( i measured it at 24 1/4 but ill say my margin of error was bout half an inch as i did this hastily) but back to the point a bass this fat easily outweighs a snook of the same length which would be about 4-6 lbs a snook is typically atleast 28-29 inches when it weighs 8 lbs, the bass stretched all the way across my shoulders and like i said theres no point of lying about the weight of a largemouth lol like come on now and one last thing to keep in mind a bass could easily weigh a pound to a pound and a half more depending on how much hes had to eat in recent weeks

no i absolutely agree with you jetty im not goin to make a big fish look like a monster a small fish look decent etc, but ill be honest i look at the picture of that fish and it looks exactly the same size of a 6lb i caught a while back, but this bass was thick and maybe might not have been a "guy" at all if you know what im getting at lol it didnt have that hollow stomach like so many bass do, and the first one was a pound n 3/4 lol it was just a fat little guy i was impressed

:thumleft: Nice bass man, yeah I had similar situation were a snake head was shorter than normal but it was really round and thick. I thought it would weight six lb just by look. I scale it and it come out a disbelieving ten pound. Then I had a 43 inch snake head skinny as hell and I weight and it scale out at a disappointing 8.2lb. I had a 32 inch snake that scale out at 9.8. So it is hard to gage some time by the lousy photographers who took my pictures (I won't mention anyone name accept is is some kind of Yeti). That is why I always drag a long another BFF guy to verify my fishy story. When Bionic pull out his fish, I thought it was maybe four lb and he put his IFGA certified scale on and it is 7lbs. After looking at the photo, I still think it is still four lb if I was not there witnessing with Mark from Brazil taking Bionic pictures and holding the dam fish myself. :nemo:

Next time just paid the 25 dollars or so to have IFGA certified your scale so no one can question your integrity, they are off griffin/95 in Davies. Well it look a lot bigger than my 6.5 lb bass hog I caught this summer that look like a stunt Vietnamese pot belly pigs! I believe you, just don't tell anybody where it is but me :silent: :uplol: and then next time catch it again and photo and scale it better---anyway no one can take it away from you that you have caught a nice fish...because I certainly have not caught a dam thing since the big freeze and got not a dam thing to say!! :dude:

I'm not saying you're lying, but that bass looks like 5 lbs.
I have owned two Berkley scales and they were dead accurate.
I always checked them for accuracy on a regular basis.
If your scale says 7.14 oz then I'm sure it's correct.

Great catch, eight pounds is like a new born baby so it may be a little much. If your scale has a spring i've found these sometimes get busted over time.

Could just have swallowed a chunk of lead

Nice bass one way or the other. Funny how it is always the guys that never post a picture that want to dog everyone for their catches and weights. If someone wants to post a weight on a fish and you have a problem with it keep it to yourself. I am sick of people calling out those that actually post pictures on here for one reason or another. All it does is prevent people from posting anything.

I agree with fishnfool, plus I don't know about everyone else but I don't lie about fish wieghts and I'm sure most of you don't either. If the guy said it was 8lbs on the scale then it was 8 lbs, pictures are sometimes hard to tell how big the fish is, espcially when you don't hold it out like Bill Dance. :uplol:

Well unlike some people i hold the fish about 3 inches away from my chest so u can really see how long it is, unlike some people ;) haha im just messing around, but i have a berkley digital, not spring, its pretty reliable, i went and had it checked at bps about 3 or 4 months before that picture was taken actually. Like everyone's been saying its hard to tell how big a bass is, but remember, you can catch 2 bass the same exact size, with the same exact stomach, but one might be full one might be empty ;)
