My company is hiring seasoned Network engineers for the Office products division (Copiers) Windows network and hardware experience. I know this is not for you but since you started this thread thought I would add this for anyone interested

Best of luck in your search for employment. It is tough right now. Summer and part time jobs once filled by teens and young adults , I see are filled by adults and seniors these days. Sign of bad times when you see seniors working fast food and bagging groceries.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Keep an eye on the landscaping companies. There usually looking for people this time of year.
It is sad to see elderly people who have to work just to make ends meet. Of course some like my Dad went back to work because he was driving my Mom nuts.
Never forget it as long as I live. I stopped by about 2 weeks after he retired just to see how it was going. He was loving it. He and Rebel (The German shepard) would go to McDonalds drive thorough and get coffee for pop and a cheese burger for the dog. All the while he's telling me this, Mom's doing dishes. Pop leaves the room for whatever, Mom shut's off the sink and while wiping her hands she say's to me, "I don't care what you do or how you do it, get him the F**k outa here! I been washing dishes and doing house work for 47 years and now I don't know what I'm doing". Aside from the shock of hearing my mom use the f word for the first time in my life, I almost peed myself I was laughing so hard. Luckly, I was able to finagle Pop into his dream job as Cal city elecrtical inspector. Which is why I'm still Mom's favorite. :biglaugh:
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

These jobs being filled with elderly will be more and more due to the bazillion baby boomers that are headed into retirement age. A safe job headed into the future would be in the assisted living field (retirement homes, assisted living facilities) There will be more and more elderly in the work force something we will all see in the future.
Any one need a seasoned Pastry Chef? My wifes country club just layed everyone off for the slow season.

The problem I'm reading is medical benefit's. So few have them after they retire. Also the part D plan don't cover many med's primarially retired people need. The worst is the VA. Sure vet's get great care, just takes 6 to 8 weeks to get it. Well except for mental heahth issues, those are in the 3 to 4 month range. Might explain at least partly why active duty suicide rates were at an all time high last year.

Tough, not to mention the millions fo college grads still looking for meaningful after college employment in the filed they studied.. payback time for the loans approaching quickly.

I know I have 2.. 1 worked a bit over a year making good money, paying off his loans, then economy caught up with his field, Bamn laid off, gos on unemployment, lost his apartment, moved back in with Mon & Pops, thank god he did not have wife and kids, got a deferment for the loans but the interest still accrues, looked his azz off for real work in his field, finally found part time seasonal work at Lowes.. barely making the same as unemployment.. now a bit over a year and a half later he found a new job, had to move to Tampa, making a lot less $$, now tey have him in N. Orleans for 6 months.. but hes working again and has medical benifits.
The other has been looking for almost 2 yeasr forsomething in her field, worked at her old beach job for a year, but that was part time and slow, she found part time tiwth Sprirt.. but low hours, no full time opportunity and no benifits, found a new part time job with Vrigin A.. and is happier making more $$ but still part time and low hours with an unpredictable schedule, but maybe an opportunity at full time if she wants to move. She is starting a free internship in a week or two in her desired filed.. but free don't pay any bills.

Good luck finding something for summertime.. take what ever you can find. the economy is maybe slowly trickling upwards and it may get better.. find a trade like electrcal, plumbing, flooring.. or something and learn it, make plans for college, or join the armed forces they are looking for a few good people and it's not the worst choice for a career if you can take orders for a year or two.

If you are familiar in a trade, check out Tradesmen International. The company I work for uses them all the time.

Good luck!

The Union assault is killing the trades. Between my late Father and I we had over 70 years in the electrical Union. We enjoyed a freedom most people can only dream of. I could (And sometimes did) go anywhere in the country and hire out of the local hall. Our pay and benefit package was awesome. But the best part was the working agreement. Time and a half for anything over 40 a week, double time after 3:30 or 4:30 depending on start time on Saturday, all the way through 8:00 monday morning and all holidays. You never had to take crap from anyone.
Now I got friends taking early retirement because they been outa work so long. If you're over 50 you're screwed, none of the contractors want you. I always grabbed the old timers as soon as they walked on a job. I used to get flack for my Geriatric crew. At least until the production meetings. Then they got to explain how the geriatric crew was ahead of schedule while they were all behind.
One thing I can tell you because I worked in both, right to work states have sold you out. It should be right to work for less because that's exactly what you do. And it only effects the working class. Doctors, lawyers, Dentists, management, and politicians all make pretty much the same with few exceptions. Tradesmen like me could have as much as a 15.00 an hour difference with next to no benefits. But the difference between a union and non union bid was usually just a few thousand dollars.
Bottom line for me was when I got crippled during hip replacement. Had it not been for the fact that when social security disabled me, all my pensions rolled. I would have lost everything. The only people who benefit from rtw is owners, upper level managers, and politicians getting paid to pass this kind of legislation.
Does rtw creat jobs? as of 2010, The 22 rtw states had a 9.17 % unemployement rate compared to the 28 union states at 9.65% so it would appear as such. Until you run the #'s by population. Then all bet's are off. They are almost dead even with rtw states having close to 34% less people in them. Collective barganing is the only way the working class can advance pay and benefit's. Otherwise you're at the mercy of what your employer want's give or take. Hence the term united we bargain, divided we beg.
