Power Head for Live Bait Tank Opinions

Ok for anyone familiar with Power Heads in Aquarium Tanks they are basically like underwater Fans that create a constant current in which you plug into the wall and stick on the interior glass of the tank.

At home I'm now keeping Live Pin's in the garage with a plug in style aeorator into a decent 20 Gallon container.

My question is, do you guys think the Power Head will be a good or bad thing for Live Pins in the container. My buddy let me have one so I wanted to see if I could put it to use.

It does circulate the water in the container pretty well and is always giving it a slight swirling action. I'm just wondering whether this will stress out the bait too much as they can't really move out of the current since its not a huge tank, or if the constant movement of water will carry them around more etc thus making it less taxing on their bodies.

just the power head alone wont work for long periods of time as the ammonia build up will kill the fish , ya need something that has a carbon filter to filter out the ammonia build up something like this will help with that . and as far as the current goes there will be a spot in the tank when there is little current and the fishi will tend to go to that area or you can try and turn down the flow on the power head .

I hear ya David, yea I wasn't going to only put in the Power Head, I have a pump in there too man. I guess I will probably look into that Filter then, I could swing by my local Walmart and see if they have it in stock.

So you think I should just leave the power head out then?

The container is a big round container so I don't feel many dead spots when I put my hand in there since I guess its moving the water around, and it doesn't have an adjustment for it either.

you can still have the power head in there , if the container is round just point it at the side and it should be fine , we used to have a tub about 60 gals that we would keep pin fish and cockers in had one of the filters i showed you and 2 power heads in there and it would keep them for about 6 weeks or so and we would go to the mash and use a seine to get the little hard back shrimp to feed them with , worked good till we found a spot no one would mess with the pinfish traps ...

That sounds like a sweet set up man, what happened to it? Still have it or no?

na we sold it after we started putting the pinfish traps out , plus we dont have a grage to keep it in any more ..
