What rod, reel, and rigs do you guys use when your fishing around piers and bridges.
I normally use a light spinner or bait caster, but i'm reconsidering because i always lose rigs when they go in there holes.

That depends on what type of snapper. For casting out for muttons, I use a conventional reel with 30 lb mono, like a Saltist 50 or Accurate 870, on a 9 ft rod. For fishing for smaller mangroves with live shrimp, I use a 10-12 lb spinner with 15-20 lb flourocarbon leader and a trollrite. For fishing straight down on the pilings with live pinfish for bigger mangroves, I use a 4/0 size reel with 40 lb mono and 50 lb leader, you never know when a nice grouper may hit too and you need to get them out from the piling. Rigs vary, depending on the conditions and current, but usually either a standard fishfinder rig or a dropper rig.

Pretty standard Rig for me is a fish finder Rig, either sliding egg or bank sinker 3-6oz depending on current. Mainline being 30lb Mono to a 40lb Fluorocarbon Leader.

She is doing it wrong, she is supposed to cup the reel with the other hand.

For mangrove snapper I like 10 lb braid to 15-30lb fluoro(I use one that stretches a bit) for freelining shrimp. I use this with a 3000-5000 reel and medium-med heavy rod.

For bottom fishing 30-50 lb mono to 30-50 fluoro leader with a fishfinder rig with a 4-8 oz weight depending on current. This is used on mostly 3/0-4/0 size conventional on 9 foot heavy rods.
