Catch My Drift
I've got a couple of tickets to the Catch My Drift boat. Just wondering what the best bet is this time of year; morning, noon or night?

Re: Catch My Drift
Finally got around to using these tickets over the weekend, mid-day trip. Let's just say I won't ever be paying even half price to go back on this boat:
- I was actually yelled at by a mate for attempting to assist untangling my own line, WTF???
- Later I was told I can't use braid... I was going to vertical jig, that was out.
- We drifted the same fishless spot over and over all day.
- Total tally: 2 bonitas & 2 kings for a boat packed to the gills.
I will admit, the other mates were helpful and respectful though, one of them to a fault! LOL

Search the forum, and you'll find a lot of posts from people with similar stories to yours on that boat.

I am sorry but not shocked to hear about your experience on them. It is a shame that they are still the same operation now as compared to 7 years ago when I said I would never fish on them again.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

FH is right. If I were you I would of called and booked a spot on the stern for a night trip. I would pack my car with all my rods and tackle. Make sure to bring a cooler and bags for filets. It would benifit you to bring the captain a sub and maybe some beers for the mates. Don't put the cooler in right away , make it your last item to put into your car or truck. One thing people forget is to bring towels to wipe your hands down when they get all fishy. Do not forget to bring some cash to tip the mate and captain. (It helps you in the long run) Ok now you are almost ready to head to the dock. Before you do anything else throw your keys into your car, lock and shut your door before you get in. Hopefully you left the cooler last and did not pack it. Now go to the cooler and have a great sub and enjoy some beers and use the tip and trip money for hookers. You will end up with the same amout of fish....

Thanks go4em this month will have some big mangroves around, on all the party boats arouns best thing to do is bring a light spinner with yellowtailjigs or a knocker rig for some of us who can afford them, and a bottom rod to put baits on the bottom when u see mangroves coming up, stern spots r best tho becasue everyone in the stern is usually regularsGO4EM wrote:FH is right. Yup. They where drifting with both sides full. No way you can drift like that, it's just crazy! Goes to show you, They don't care if you catch fish or not. They just want to fill the boat.rare wrote:Was that one of the party boats when we were out there this Sunday? That boat was packed!!

Re: Catch My Drift
I went on there when I first started fishing. seems its more of a tourist trap being located in the middle of las olas. they take your money and let u drift with a line in the water. hey atleast you got out
