You never know, until you try

Post by team fin addicts »

In the family dynamic, if I am surf :reeling: , then my dad would certainly be turf :auto: ... Although I hunt, I do not hunt near as much as he does. He occasionally goes fishing, but has not developed the love of fishing like I have. So I spend my time on the water and he in the woods and fields, but in a few instances, the two come together under the oddest of circumstances...

Last summer Dad, my brother and I layed the floor on his newly constructed Man-cave. He had dreamed of this "retreat" for over a year, and it was finally complete. He had designed several recesses and shelves and other spots to display his mounts and other trophies, including a 15ft Vaulted ceiling on the east end allowing the wall to accomodate a bull elk or moose. He has been on a few Elk / Mule Deer hunts over the years, but has yet to bag the Elk.

In my search for some fishing equipment, I came across a gentleman that had moved from Idaho, only to discover that the prized Elk Rack he had for nearly 30 years, would not fit on any wall of his newly purchased home. He was in the market for some new rods, and I thought, how often does an opportunity like this come along.... So I talked to Dad about the Rack and the Idaho Gentleman & I worked out a deal. We would trade custom rods for the rack......

This is what he got.....
2 Matching 7ft inshore rods one for him and 1 for his wife... Lamiglas blanks, prowrap thread, cork handles, Am Tack guides....

I spoke to Dad about the rack as we were going to pick it up yesterday. I know it is not a bull that he took, and there is no story of his own to associate with it, but he says there is a story with it, and it will hang on the wall, whether he gets one of his own or not....

I had to leave my Boon and Crocket Antelope mount when we moved into our second house. Not that it didn't fit, Karen just hated that thing
Kind of like the leg lamp in A Christmas story :uplol:
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!
