Went out on friends' boat off PBC to about 100-150 feet. Got to try out my new Christmas present speed jigs. At first I kept hooking mega-blue runners, I mean, the biggest I've ever seen! But I was out-fishing the others, (they had live pilchards) by at least 5 to 1.

Later I hooked up to a 4 foot AJ but he got off, then I started losing jigs to cut-offs on every drop. Added wire -no more hits... not one!

Well this fishing style is a total blast, but losing so many jigs is just way too expensive to do regularly. Still, it was an awesome way to start out the fishing for this year. :reeling:

I like getting hits and losing jigs vs. not losing jigs and getting no hits with wire. Getting the jigs from Ebay for $5 is a heck of lot better than the $15-$20 from BPS.

Heck, what's the point of no hits! Thanks for the Ebay tip.

Don't get me wrong. Wire dosn't necessarily mean no hits. I know lot's of guys who use wire and get plenty of hits. When we were down in the marqueses there was so many macks and flying kings I had nothing but cut offs and I wished I had wire.

Same thing jiging kings Sehoon, wire keeps your jig but your gonna get less hit's than with heavy mono or fluoro. That's the trade off.

Great start. I don't like using wire either.

Wire=no bite. We are always looking for less expensive jigs to try and ease the pain.

believe it or not I brought 9 jigs one day and kept getting cutoff even with 2 feet of wire a school or kings. I caught about 20. And a wahoo and a lot of tuna. But I lost all my jigs to cut off and used a gotcha took a long time to get down there but never got cutoff and still worked. maybe jsut the school of fish. A huge school. filled the bottom of my boat with kings wahoo and tunas.
